Continuous palm oil refining process includes 4 sections, they are palm oil degumming & deacidification process, palm oil decolorization process and palm oil deodorization process. This video show us the palm oil deacidification process.
Crude oil is pumped to neutralizer from palm oil mill or storage tank and first it is treated with weak solution of phosphoric acid or other suitable de-gumming agent for removing gums. Thereafter oil is further treated with measured quantity of alkali (NaoH) depending upon free fatty acid (F.F.A.) in crude oil. In this process soap will be separated. Next process is hot water wash to the oil to remove traces of soap particle and free alkali. The oil obtained will be light in color, free from soap stock and called as washed neutralized oil.
